Microsoft reported it's record fourth-quarter earnings Thursday, with $16.04 billion in revenue, which is a 22% increase compared to the same quarter last year.
For the fiscal year, which ended June 30, 2010, Microsoft reported record revenue of $62.48 billion, a 7% increase from the previous year.
Microsoft was boosted thanks to strong sales with the successful launch of Office 2010 and a strong performance from Windows 7, which has sold more than 175 million copies, Windows Server, Xbox and Bing, which it's performance was not monetary, but it's 13th consecutive month of gaining market share.
More than 7 copies a second
Yes, you heard right, since the launch of Windows 7, Microsoft has sold 175 million copies, that is more than 7 copies a second, making it the fastest selling operating system in history. Windows 7 is now also running on more than 16% of computers worldwide.
A strong momentum is also being seen in the business sector as well, as they have accelerated their "refresh cycle," and Microsoft has seen the second month of double digit business license growth.
We saw strong sales execution across all of our businesses, particularly in the enterprise with Windows 7 and Office 2010. Our transition to cloud services is well underway with offerings like Windows Azure and our Business Productivity Online Services, and we look forward to continuing our product momentum this fall with the upcoming launches of Windows Phone 7 and Xbox Kinect.
