It's a fact that Microsoft does not respect people that do not use Internet Explorer and choose to use other browsers on their windows platforms.
This is proven by the fact that up till the time that Windiz Update was created, people needed to use IE in order to correctly update their systems without searching for hours through the security update postings that MS issues.

I often reinstall Operating Systems for people whose PC's have crashed.
For a person like me that chooses not to use IE, I get pretty pissed off at MS for having to search for hours for information about which security updates are obsolete and which are still current. THERE IS NO LIST THAT IS EASILY AND READILY AVAILABLE THAT STATES WHICH UPDATES ARE OBSOLETE AND WHICH SERVICE PACKS SUPERCEDE OTHER SERVICE PACKS. I've downloaded all sorts of service packs and put them on an external HD and DVD that I take to my PC customers.
MS wants people to automatically update their systems but I'm one of the many many people that choose not to do this, because I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to trust Microsoft in doing the right thing for my system and not spying on me, because that simply hasn't happened in the past. I once used that automatic update and it crashed my operating system. After that it was permanently GAME OVER for MS automatic update.
Without using MS automatic update, I had to read so many pages and spend so much time searching for and downloading the updates, that I soon stopped ever suggesting to any of my customers that they buy any MS products and told them to do so only if it is absolutely unavoidable.
It's no wonder that MS has such a bad reputation when it comes down to supporting their customers. I sure as hell won't buy any new products from MS knowing how much of a struggle this is, but since it's my job to reinstall other people's systems, I'm forced to surf on the MS site. I'm not at all surpised when someone tells me that B.Gates once stated that he doesn't listen to his customers - you can clearly see that on the MS website. I've heard from a lot of other people that they suggested to MS that they put up a list of security packs with links rather than showing each one separately with a description and show which ones are obsolete.
Anyway, today is great example... I went to MS trying to find out which service packs are inside Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000 so that I wouldn't add any service packs that are obsolete on top of it, which can still happen and then it turns into a p**** in the a** when I get a call from someone telling me that something is wrong with their system and I have to drive for miles to get to them to correct the problem AFTER SPENDING HOURS TRYING TO FIND OUT WHICH SERVICE PACK IT WAS THAT WAS WRONGLY INSTALLED.
In the article about service pack 4 they list the service packs which are in Service pack 4 by name, BUT NOT BY A LIST OF FILENAMES OR KB's. That means I had to open each damn article to find the file names or KB names and then compare them to the ones that the guy has on his system and I'm still not sure if I found all those which are obsolete. THANKS FOR WASTING MY TIME MS! GREAT JOB!

Now why the hell aren't they bright enough to see things from the side of the customers?
If MS was smart and wanted a little less load on their servers and more satisfied customers, they'd make it a lot easier by making a dropdown list of security packs by their KB number and also make a table of current security packs and in the same list, also list the ones that are made obsolete by those that supercede them. Without a list like that, people waste lots of time on their websites without wanting to and are pretty disgruntled by it.
I AM. Maybe you can help me...
Does anyone here know of a site where all the security packs for each operating system are listed along with a list of which ones are obsolete?
I'd really appreciate it.BTW, I've found quite a lot of sites that have made their own lists, but some of them do not coincide with the others and mostly they simply aren't up to date. They do that because MS is to incompetent to do it on their own.
